Knightscope Expands Presence After Receiving FedRAMP Authorization
Knightscope has received an authority to operate from the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, a requirement to joining the FedRAMP marketplace.
The ATO will eventually enable Knightscope to begin its deployment processes to perform on the contract awarded by the Department of Veterans Affairs for its first K5 ASR fully autonomous outdoor security robot.
According to Executive Vice President and Chief Intelligence Officer Mercedes Soria, the ATO shows the company’s commitment to cybersecurity and to its mission to provide better security solutions. She added that the process also improved its security posture while enhancing commercial and civilian solutions, Knightscope said.
FedRAMP is a program that aims to create a standard security assessment, authorization and continuous monitoring for cloud services. The initiative also aims to build stronger relationships with partners to accelerate the adoption of secure solutions.
In October 2023, the Office of Management and Budget announced the expansion of FedRAMP, aimed at helping federal agencies adopt more cloud-based services. One of the planned changes is to allow several agencies to review cloud offerings to accelerate the issuance of FedRAMP authorization.
