NSF Launches New Initiative Integrating AI Learning Across US Education Sector
The National Science Foundation has launched a new initiative designed to integrate artificial intelligence across the education sector.
The EducateAI initiative will equip educators with the skills needed to integrate AI into their teaching practices and establish infrastructure to support AI education across the U.S. education sector. Margaret Martonosi, assistant director of NSF’s Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering, said EducateAI ensures that students understand AI and can contribute to the technology’s evolution.
The initiative will be available to students in the K-12 system, four-year and community colleges and graduate schools, as well as to adults looking for formal AI training, the NSF said Tuesday.
The foundation has been pursuing AI-related developments in recent months through various programs and funding.
In November, the NSF awarded 11 colleges and universities over $16 million in funding to expand AI research capacity, identify relevant opportunities and address key challenges. Projects funded by the Expanding AI Innovation through Capacity Building and Partnerships grant include workforce diversification, training and education and data transformation.
