SSC Activates Two New Units Complementing Integrated Mission Deltas

The Space Systems Command has activated its Positioning, Navigation and Timing System Delta and Electromagnetic Warfare System Delta to complement the U.S. Space Force’s Integrated Mission Deltas

According to the SSC, the two units will maximize the new IMDs, which focus on such mission areas as position and navigation instead of functional fields, like intelligence and operations. To achieve their role, the SYDs will consolidate SSC’s offices designing and developing mission systems for acquisitions, SSC said

For their part, the IMDs will combine all Space Operations Command units to consolidate all mission-readiness elements into one organization, including mission generation and cyber defense, the SSC added.

Gen. Chance Saltzman, chief of space operations, noted that the SYDs bridge the command’s “operations today and the acquisition efforts that will shape our operations in the future.”

Command of the PNT Delta was handed over to Col. Matthew Spencer and the EW Delta to Jordan Riedel in a ceremony at the Los Angeles Air Force Base.
