Air Force Completes Data Integration Tool to Improve Munitions Logistics Tracking

The U.S. Air Force has developed a data integration solution to improve its munitions logistics tracking capability across the service.

As mandated by the 2020 Headquarters Air Force directive to merge the Integrated Missile Data Base, the military branch completed the Accountable Property System of Record, a modified off-the-shelf commercial logistics management system capable of tracking information by component type and characteristics, in November, the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center said.

Col. Will Storms, director of the Minuteman III Systems Directorate, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, said the data integration initiative improves the military branch’s ability to manage and maintain its most important assets.

Munition tracking is not the service’s only modernization effort. It is also improving its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities, with investments focused on digital infrastructure, allowing the service to get high-quality intelligence, and gather important data from sensors and other battlefield information.

The Air Force has been pushing for modernization since 2022. Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall said the need to accelerate the modernization of the Air Force and Space Forces comes at a time when China, Russia and other adversaries are investing more in upgrading their military technologies.
