Veterans Affairs Awards Life Insurance Task Order to GovCIO
The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded GovCIO a three-year, $35 million task order to continue providing advanced technology solutions and digital services support to the VA’s Life Insurance Policy Administration System Phase II program.
GovCIO had previously worked with the VA Office of Information and Technology and the Veterans Benefits Administration to modernize and maintain the LIPAS program, which provides a total of $1.2 trillion in insurance coverage to 5.6 million beneficiaries. Veterans incapable of purchasing commercial insurance at reasonable fees because of service-related impairments are eligible for the LIPAS program, GovCIO said.
The LIPAS tasks that GovCIO has carried out include moving the program to a cloud-based, shared service system. The company also added new solution features, such as the synchronization of the legacy mainframe with a modern data setup and automation for improved performance and services.
In early 2023, GovCIO supported the VBA and OIT in the launch of the first fully automated VALife insurance policy – the first new VA life insurance offering in 20 years.
The VA also awarded GovCIO a 10-year, $141 million VBA modernization support services contract in April for the development of an automated case management system to help job-seeking veterans.
