US Air Force Receives Seventh BACN Aircraft From Bombardier

Bombardier Defense announced that it has delivered the seventh Global 6000 aircraft to the U.S. Air Force under the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node program.

All BACN aircraft, known as E-11A in the Air Force, serve as high-altitude communication relay platforms – a capability called “Wi-Fi in the sky.”

Bombardier delivered the Global 6000 aircraft under a five-year, $465 million multiyear contract awarded to its subsidiary Learjet in 2021. The contract provides the Air Force an option to procure an additional aircraft annually until 2026, Bombardier said.

Global 6000 enables voice communications and data transmission between aerial assets and ground-based troops even in challenging environments.

The Global aircraft is recognized as the optimal option for governments and defense contractors worldwide, according to Jean-Christophe Gallagher, executive vice president of aircraft sales and defense at Bombardier.

“Leveraging state-of-the-art integrated technology and a team of high-skilled experts, Bombardier Defense continues to strengthen its ties with the U.S. Air Force and to deliver its renowned platforms utilized to reinforce national and international security,” Gallagher said.
