US Army Integrates Contract Writing System Into Cloud-Based Business Platform
The U.S. Army is further streamlining its procurement activities by integrating its modernized contract writing platform with the web-based General Fund Enterprise Business System, the service branch’s financial management system.
The integration, which the Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems and the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Procurement rolled out Monday, will bring the Army Contract Writing System to 1,200 additional users, Army .mil reported Tuesday.
The service branch’s units covered in the integration are the National Guard Bureau, the U.S. Army Medical Command and some U.S. Army Contracting Command contracting offices.
Rick Harris, ACWS acting product manager, said the system’s GFEBS integration addresses the “number one priority” of faster delivery of “total force readiness” to U.S. soldiers.
The Army deployed ACWS in July 2023 to 104 contracting personnel, which expanded to more than 500 users in January 2024, bringing the total coverage to 1,700 current users. GFEBS was introduced in the Army in July 2020, as the service branch’s first cloud-computing financial system.
