US, EU Technology Council Releases Draft Digital Identity Exercise Report

The United States and the European Union are continuing their work to find a common ground to create a digital identity framework.

On Friday, the National Institute of Standards and Technology with the EU-US Trade and Technology Council released the draft “Digital Identity Mapping Exercise Report,” a paper that lays down specific technical terminology associated with digital identity.

The report outlines the U.S. and EU frameworks on digital identity, aiming to establish a strong cooperative relationship in tackling the use of electronic identities, especially in simplifying the delivery of essential services and creating research collaborations between institutions on both sides of the Atlantic, Nextgov/FCW reported.

NIST started its work on promoting the adoption of digital identities in September. It sought organizations to work in a National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence project to share their expertise to accelerate the adoption of digital identities.
