US Space Force Official: Allies Keen to Support US in Space Defense Efforts

The deputy chief of space operations for operations, cyber and nuclear at the U.S. Space Force said in an interview that other countries want to work with the United States on defending space-based technologies and systems.

According to Lt. Gen. DeAnna Burt, allied European countries are increasingly investing in space defense systems and are developing strategies to help each other fend off threats. Burt also noted that European states do not want the U.S. to bear the brunt when it comes to space defense.

Burt’s comments follow meetings with European allies, SpaceNews reported.

The Space Force official said while other countries have the ability to contribute to joint defense efforts, interoperability remains a challenge.
