Veterans Health Administration Sets Up New Digital Health Office
The Veterans Health Administration has established the Digital Health Office to consolidate and optimize its digital health initiatives, according to a spokesperson from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
First announced in early June, the DHO integrates various VHA components, including connected care, population health, strategic initiatives laboratory and artificial intelligence programs, Nextgov/FCW reported.
The office also consolidates 600 personnel and is funded by the offices and programs it comprises.
According to the spokesperson, the primary aim of the DHO is to coordinate the VHA’s digital health strategy and its execution and enhance the collaboration among the VA’s programs and facilities.
A part of a broader VHA Central Office optimization effort, the DHO also seeks to provide the infrastructure and support needed to ensure the successful integration of the solutions across the VHA enterprise, ultimately enhancing the veterans’ health care experience.
Nadia Smith will serve as the office’s acting chief digital health officer, overseeing the DHO’s operations with Latriece Prince-Wheeler, the acting deputy.
