Viasat Secures Spot on Potential $900M Multi-Award USAF Technology Integration Contract
The U.S. Air Force’s Life Cycle Management Center has awarded Viasat a position on a potential $900 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to provide systems, hardware, software and cybersecurity solutions to the U.S. Air Force. Viasat was selected for each of the contract’s three categories: development planning, systems development and synthetic environment development.
The company will work with the AFLCMC’s Architecture and Integration Directorate for the rapid transition of new systems, software and hardware into the USAF. The multiple-award contract will cover about five years and have options for five more years, Viasat said Thursday.
According to Viasat, the contract is designed to bring wide-ranging industry solutions to the service branch and enable its personnel to access integrated technology more quickly. Viasat’s communications capabilities, including commercial satellite services from the Ka-band, S-band and L-band networks, will be used in the contract.
The company said it is bringing into the contract more than 35 years of work experience with the Department of Defense’s satellite, networking and cybersecurity projects including space development programs.
Viasat’s operations significantly grew after the company acquired Inmarsat in May 2023, which resulted in having an 18-satellite fleet operating in space and the development of 10 more satellites.
