NTT DATA Wins Contract to Modernize Interior Dept’s TIMS Information System
NTT DATA Federal Services has won a $95M contract to modernize the Department of the Interior's Technical Information Management System.
Under the five-year contract, NTT DATA shall upgrade the system's technology architecture to reduce complexity, increase usability and improve effectiveness.
“NTT DATA is honored to help the Department of the Interior take full advantage of new and emerging technologies to promote safety, protect the environment and conserve resources offshore,” said Tim Conway, the company's president for the public sector.
TIMS is an information system that automates business and regulatory functions for the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, NTT DATA said Tuesday.
The system was designed to store and share data with U.S. offshore resources in a safe and responsible manner to support resource development.
TIMS is also used by the Office of Natural Resources Revenue, the oil and gas industry and some other federal, state and local government organizations.
In collaboration with the department, NTT DATA will provide operations support, infrastructure and application maintenance, security, cloud transformation and other information technology services.
The company said it will collaborate with a team of partners, which includes NuAxis, MBS, Sparkhound and Prolantics, to cover the full scope of the contract. NTT DATA will also assess the system's enterprise architecture, IT infrastructure library processes, Agile practices, DevSecOps capabilities and security posture.
Reportedly, the Department of the Interior's ultimate goal is to merge TIMS' operations with the maintenance cycle and integrate new development without sacrificing user experience.
NTT DATA is an IT and services company based in Plano, Texas. It specializes in analytics, automation, cloud, applications modernization, management, security and hosting, business process outsourcing and consulting, among others.
