Opinion: Data Lakehouses Will Make Artificial Intelligence More Reliable

Organizations can maximize artificial intelligence by utilizing “data lakehouses,” Robert Carey, president of Cloudera’s government solutions business, wrote in an opinion piece on C4ISRNET.

The executive explained in the article that data lakes are storage options for structured and unstructured data that, if managed properly, will enable AI to produce the most reliable results. AI requires clean and trustworthy data, he added.

Carey said data lakehouses provide controlled governance that allows organizations to improve data literacy and data-driven operations, leading to higher trust in data. Using a lakehouse to manage clean data feeds AI with trusted information.

Carey, a 4×24 member and past Wash100 awardee, emphasized that teams should rely on hybrid data management platforms that enable access to any cloud analytics and data. He explained that such an approach would ensure “optimal performance, scalability and security.”

According to Carey, the Department of Defense’s new AI strategy focuses on adopting a data-centric approach. Having a data management solution to coordinate information sharing between DOD components and allies will create transparency, enhancing teams’ trust in their data, he wrote.
