Peraton Defense CISO Delivers Keynote at Dakota State University CybHER Event

Peraton attended the annual CybHER event held at Dakota State University on June 19, where the chief information security officer of the company’s defense mission and health solutions sector delivered the keynote remarks.

CybHER showcases the multi-year partnership between Peraton and DSU. Tom Afferton, president of the cyber mission sector at Peraton and a member of the Potomac Officers Club, said strategic partnerships allow his company to ensure that future cyber professionals will have a more dynamic and inclusive environment to work in.

CybHER is a summer camp attended by female students from middle school who are interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics with a focus on cybertechnology, Peraton said.

Peraton provides scholarships to CybHER attendees and this year, two of the three recipients of the company’s scholarship were present at the summer camp.

The company has also partnered with DSU in the conduct of cyber research in support of the national cyber strategy of federal agencies, including the U.S. Cyber Command and the Army Cyber Command.
