Pratt and Whitney Lands $194M Navy Contract for F135 Production Parts

Pratt and Whitney, a Hartford-based subsidiary of United Technologies, has landed a $193.78M contract for the purchase of long-lead materials for the low-rate initial production of Lot 15 F135 propulsion systems. Under a cost-plus-incentive-fee, fixed-price-incentive-firm contract, the company shall support the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, non-Department of Defense participants and foreign military sales customers. Most of the work will be performed in East Hartford in Connecticut and in North Berwick, Maine, DoD announced Monday. Work is expected to be completed by December 2013. The other places of performance are Indianapolis, Indiana; Jupiter, Florida; Windsor Locks, Connecticut; Bristol, United Kingdom; Rockford, Illinois; Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico and Phoenix, Arizona. The Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.
