RGS Enables Secure Asset Migration to Internet-Based Environments

Kubernetes and container management solutions provider Rancher Government has released a new solution that streamlines and simplifies asset and application migration to classified environments.

The Rancher Government Hauler was developed with government and military security and operational requirements in mind, allowing users to move solutions from their computers to internet-based solutions while minimizing risks in airgap environments. Specifically, Hauler treats container images, files and other assets as content and collections, allowing operators to more easily fetch, store, pack and distribute them through declarative configuration files or a command line without compromising security at the airgap, Rancher Government said.

Brandon Gulla, vice president and chief technology officer at Rancher Government and a 4×24 member, said old artifact migration approaches relied on manual processes. He shared that Hauler will ensure that customers can migrate their solutions to internet environments regardless of connectivity limitations.

Rancher Government has been offering cloud and Kubernetes solutions to the U.S. government in recent years.

In November 2022, Rancher Government partnered with the Linux Foundation to support cloud- and DevSecOps-enabled technology modernization for the U.S. military and government agencies. In September 2022, Rancher Government secured a Small Business Innovation Research Phase III contract from the U.S. Air Force’s Kessel Run to provide Kubernetes support for the Air Force’s Information Technology Life Cycle Management Center.
