Sean Boyle Joins Splunk’s Board of Directors

Computer software company Splunk has elected cloud computing and finance veteran Sean Boyle to its board of directors.

According to Doug Merritt, president and chief executive officer of Splunk, Boyle’s industry expertise and financial acumen will be integral as the company expands its Data-To-Everything platform.

Boyle is a seasoned industry leader with over 25 years of finance and capital markets experience, supplemented by an extensive background in financial planning and operations, management and strategy and expertise in cloud and internet of things technology, Splunk said.

He also brings leadership experience into his new role, having served executive positions during his 13-year tenure at Amazon, including vice president of investor relations and chief financial officer.

Prior to joining Amazon, Boyle held the CFO role at Apptio, a software-as-a-service provider based in Bellevue, Washington, specializing in technology business management.

Additionally, he spent nearly 13 years at Ford, where he held roles of increasing responsibility, including CFO, information technology infrastructure controller, senior financial analyst and cost accountant.

Concurrently, Boyle serves on the board of trustees at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, a role which he has been holding since June 2019. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center seeks new and innovative ways to prevent, diagnose and treat life-threatening diseases like cancer and HIV/AIDS. He is also currently a board member for Rainier Prep, a public charter school in Seattle.

Boyle is an alumnus of the University of Windsor, where he completed his bachelor’s and master of business administration degrees in finance.
