Sonny Hashmi Takes On Public Sector Head Role at Unqork

Software company Unqork has announced that its new head of public sector will be Sonny Hashmi, a previous Potomac Officers Club event speaker and Wash100 winner.

He will drive government adoption of a codeless development platform to reduce spending on legacy technology and simplify digital experience creation, Unqork said.

Hashmi was most recently the commissioner of the General Services Administration’s Federal Acquisition Service, where he supported agencies’ procurement of more than $100 billion in products and services.

He oversaw GSA’s information technology cloud modernization strategy and created a cloud computing and performance measurement road map for the government.

Hashmi stepped down as FAS commissioner in late December after serving in the role for almost two years. According to his LinkedIn profile, he was previously part of Box as managing director for global government, handling brand, marketing and product strategy for public sector accounts.

Earlier, Hashmi was GSA’s chief information officer.
