Space & Technology Solutions Receives $719M NASA Contract for Space Orbital Systems Development

Space & Technology Solutions, a joint venture of KBR and Intuitive Machines, has received the Omnibus Multidiscipline Engineering Services III contract from NASA. The OMES III contract, which has a total value of $719 million, aids the space agency’s Exploration and In-space Services projects division and the primary support vehicle for the Joint Polar Satellite System program.

Under the OMES III contract, the Houston-based engineering and construction company KBR will provide instrument systems and technology services, as well as exploration and mission support services. Work on the contract will be performed at the Goddard Space Flight Center’s Applied Engineering and Technology Directorate in Maryland, KBR said.

Byron Bright, president of KBR Government Solutions, a 4×24 member and a 2020 Wash100 winner, said that the company, as Intuitive Machines’ partner, proudly supports NASA’s space orbital systems development.

Intuitive Machines’ CEO, Steve Altemus, noted the strategic importance of the contract, as it allows the company to validate its spacecraft development experience to support NASA in critical technology.

NASA’s Joint Polar Satellite System serves as the backbone of short- and long-term weather forecasts and also enables studies on long-term climate trends.
