Space Force Unveils Data, AI Strategic Action Plan to Secure Operational Advantage

The U.S. Space Force has released its Data and Artificial Intelligence FY 2024 Strategic Action Plan, outlining a road map to leverage data as a critical strategic asset in contested space environments.

To effectively meet the Space Force’s mission needs, the plan guides the service through the secure and rapid integration of intelligence data by investing in data analytics and AI technologies, the Space Force said.

The plan details specific actions for the Space Force to achieve said mission, including establishing robust data governance practices, fostering a data-driven culture, optimizing data analytics and AI capabilities and strengthening partnerships.

Col. Nathan Iven, the service’s acting chief technology and innovation officer, also underscored the importance of a unified data strategy, a skilled workforce adept at integrating commercial technologies and continuous research and development to maintain competitive edge.

Moreover, Chandra Donelson, the service’s chief data and AI officer, highlighted the need for a coordinated approach across the Space Force to achieve the plan’s objectives.
