Mr. Alan Hansen was appointed as the Deputy Assistant Director, Information Dominance in June 2021. In his current capacity, he is responsible for the research, development, and evaluation of Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Electronic Warfare and Cyber technologies to provide effective, proactive situational awareness, tracking, targeting and survivability solutions that transition into operational relevant capabilities for the Soldier. The thought leadership Alan has exhibited throughout his career in concept development, requirements generation, and capability development on behalf of the Army’s MI Corps has never been clearer; increasing the lethality of our warfighters to keep pace with an unpredictable adversary. Alan has evolved his division into a culture of performance, operating at the speed of warfighter need – through agility and adaptability of technology; such as DevSecOps, DataOps, converged data platforms, natural language processing (NLP)/Understanding (NLU), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), deep learning and Activity-Base Intelligence (as a service) are critical ingredients for
future success.

Acknowledging his passionate sense of mission and his expertise in emerging cutting-edge information technologies, Alan was consistently assigned to technical leadership roles on programs that allowed him the opportunity to revolutionize the Army’s intelligence systems.  Alan began his career as an engineer and an acquisition professional for the government in 1985, supporting a Quick Reaction Capability (QRC) program for the 82 nd  Airborne Division at Ft Bragg, NC, that later became the Improved Guardrail V system.  In 1993, as an original member on the Joint Precision Strike Demonstration (JPSD), he led the software development that pioneered concepts of precision ground target tracking, for his efforts Mr. Hansen was recognized by the Chief of Staff of the Army with the Commanders Medal.  Then in 2007, as the Chief Engineer for the Fusion and Modeling Division, he provided technical expertise and support to I2WD customers, to include PM DCGS-A, INSCOM, DARPA, JIEDDO, NSA, NRO, and NGA.  Managed Science and Technology information exploitation portfolio of $40 million per year providing senior technical and program oversight for a multitude of projects ranging from internal laboratory efforts to multi-year, $100 million plus programs supporting army intelligence operations.  In 2009, Mr. Hansen was hand selected to lead development and integration of Cloud Computing efforts for PM DCGS-A, resulting as the first DOD’s first agency to field a tactical Cloud to the warfighter (4th Quarter FY10).Â

Mr. Hansen is a seasoned Army executive with numerous accomplishments.  He received a Bachelor of Engineering, Electrical (minor in Computer Engineering) from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY (1985) and Classwork in Information Theory, Masters level UCLA (1987-88).  Alan has been a member of the Army Acquisition Corps since 2013; Certified Level III, Program Management; Certified Level III, Planning, Research, Development, and Engineering (SPRDE); and Certified Level II, Program
Systems Engineer.  Alan has several published documents; white papers, technical manuals, and multiple articles for the National Symposium on Sensor and Data Fusion (NSSDF).
