Angel Smith joined the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in 2016 following a 23 career in the United States Marine Corps (USMC). After her first 5 years as an enlisted electronics technician, she earned her commission and spent the remainder of her career serving as a pilot in the sexiest aircraft in the USMC inventory, the KC-130 Hercules. While in the fleet operational forces her most notable billet assignments have included KC-130 Detachment Commander in support of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, KC-130 Detachment Commander in support of Operation Damayon and VMGR-352 Aircraft Maintenance Officer.
As the program monitor for the Department of Defense (DoD) Intelligence and Overhead Architecture Subcommittee, Angel monitors various IC agencies as well as DoD military intelligence programs. She has been designated as the House Permanent Select Committee staff lead to support DoD innovation efforts, improve intelligence sharing among partner nation military’s and security clearance reform initiative. Angel has a BS in Social Psychology, a MS in International Relations and is on the home stretch for earning her PhD in Organizational Psychology.
