Brian Dunbar

Brian Dunbar is a CIA careerist currently serving as Assistant Director, Special Security Directorate, National Counterintelligence and Security Center, Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Mr. Dunbar previously served as Chief, Personnel Security Group, Special Security Directorate, National Counterintelligence and Security Center, Office of the Director of National Intelligence. In this assignment, he was responsible for security policy development and implementation for the DNI in the DNI’s role as Security Executive Agent for the whole of government. Before that, Mr. Dunbar served as an Intelligence Community Representative to the Office of Management and Budget, Performance Accountability Council, Program Management Office, developing and driving strategic level initiatives for security and suitability reform across government.
In Mr. Dunbar’s 29 year career with CIA Office of Security, he has held senior leadership positions at the Division, Branch and Staff levels, and also, in addition to those assignments listed above, served as Director of Security for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, as well as completing two assignments with the National Reconnaissance Office. His CIA experience includes leadership in a number of security business areas, including personnel, physical, industrial and area security.
Mr. Dunbar earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from George Mason University and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Hampden-Sydney College.
