Mr. Dan Andrew is a Software Systems Architect with the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Data, Engineering and Software. He is responsible for coordinating the technical strategy for digital transformation across the Army’s Acquisition Enterprise. Dan focuses on defining technical reference architectures providing guidance to Army programs for implementing modern digital designs, technologies, and practices.
Mr. Andrew has over 30 years of experience operating, developing, and modernizing defense software systems. After receiving his commission from the United States Coast Guard Academy, he spent six years on active duty, serving two tours afloat on Coast Guard buoy tenders and one tour at Coast Guard Headquarters. In 1998, Dan left the Coast Guard and began 10 years working for industry in various software and systems engineering roles supporting many U.S. and international Armies and Navies.
Dan returned to government service in 2009 as a software project manager for the Army Installation Management Command followed by multiple software project management and engineering positions at the CECOM Software Engineering Center. While working at SEC, he became a champion for
modernizing Army software through the adoption of agile methods and DevSecOps practices.
Mr. Andrew earned a Graduate Certificate in Systems Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical and Computer Sciences with Honors from the United States Coast Guard Academy.
