Dr. Alexander Holston serves as LMI’s chief medical informatics officer and fellow in bioinformatics, taking on a pivotal role in advising on the use of data, analytics, and information systems to enhance patient wellness, facilitate enterprise leadership decision-making, and streamline the lives of physicians and nurses. With over two decades of experience, Dr. Holston's expertise spans various domains. With an unwavering dedication to the care of newborn infants as a seasoned neonatologist and his proficiency in informatics, he has successfully deployed and seamlessly integrated technology solutions into providers' workflows.

Prior to joining LMI, Dr. Holston devoted over 25 years to serving in the United States Navy, making a significant impact through visionary leadership. As chief medical informatics officer of the Defense Healthcare Management System Modernization Program, he championed the deployment of MHS GENESIS, the Department of Defense's modern $4.3 billion electronic health record solution. In addition, during his tenure as director of informatics at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, his innovation and strategic direction were instrumental in consolidating clinical informatics under the Defense Health Agency, leading to the establishment of the Office of Health Informatics.

Dr. Holston attended the United States Naval Academy, where he graduated with a degree in mathematics. Continuing his commitment to serve, he pursued a calling in medicine at the Uniformed Services University, specializing in pediatrics during his residency at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. Driven by a deep passion for providing quality healthcare to infants and newborns, he furthered his expertise in neonatal and perinatal medicine during his fellowship at the National Naval Medical Center.
