Dr. Andrew Midzak

Dr. Andrew Midzak currently serves as Strategic Research Program Integrator for the Military Operational Medicine Research Program (MOMRP) with the Defense Health Agency (DHA). The mission of MOMRP is to develop effective biomedical countermeasures against operational stressors and to prevent physical and psychological injuries during training and operations in order to maximize the health, readiness and performance of Service members and their Families. Dr. Midzak ensures alignment between basic research and advanced materiel development activities while monitoring the current research landscape across MOMRP research portfolios in 1) Physiological Health and Performance, 2) Psychological Health PTSD and Resilience, 3) Injury Prevention and Reduction and 4) Environmental Health and Protection. Dr. Midzak previously worked at the United States Army Medical Materiel Development Activity (USAMMDA) as a Product Manager in the Medical Field Systems Project Management Office (PMO). As a Product Manager, Dr. Midzak was responsible for the cost, schedule, performance and risk management of Army Medical Laboratory, Dental and Preventive Medicine materiel modernization.
Dr. Midzak is a 2003 graduate from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA with a BA in Biological Chemistry and 2008 graduate from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD with a Ph.D in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He continued studies as research faculty at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec focusing on lipid biochemistry, steroid endocrinology and pharmacological design. Dr. Midzak has been in Federal Service since 2016 and enjoys being part of the Defense Acquisition Workforce, with Certification in Science and Technology Management and Program Management.
In his life outside of work, Dr. Midzak and his wife enjoy camping and hiking with their three energetic boys.
