Heather Hopkins

Ms. Heather Hopkins has served in the national security field for over 20 years. In government, she has managed offices and led teams at the White House, the Departments of State and Defense, an embassy overseas and on Capitol Hill. In the corporate world, she has worked in advocacy and external affairs roles for large global companies such as BAE Systems and Deloitte, as well as the privately held entrepreneurial company Sierra Nevada Corporation where she was Vice President for Government Relations.
Her most recent government tour was at the Pentagon where she served in three unique roles. She was Chief of Staff to the Secretary of the Army, as Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of Defense and she started and led a new office for Intergovernmental Affairs for the Department of Defense.
In the fall of 2022, Ms. Hopkins joined Amazon, as the Head of Defense Policy for Amazon Web Services (AWS). She currently represents AWS’s DoD business to policy makers on Capitol Hill and the Department of Defense regarding commercial cloud services.
She is a fellow with the National Security Institute at the George Mason University Anton Scalia Law Center and on the board of the Space Force Association, Washington, DC Chapter.
