Keith Rohwer

Keith Rohwer is the CIO and Director, Cyber Operation Division at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC. For the past 20 years, Mr. Rohwer has served as a primary subject matter expert and technical advisor to the NRL Director of Research; Chief of Naval Research; Commander, Fleet Cyber Command/Commander Tenth Fleet; and Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command on all matters of Information Technology.
Mr. Rohwer is a native of North Bend, Oregon. He enlisted in the Navy in 1989 and graduated from Nuclear Field "A" School as an Electricians Mate. In 1994, he graduated with a B.S. in Oceanography from the University of Washington. After receiving his Commission in 1994, he served aboard USS Saipan (LHA 2) as a Surface Warfare Officer. From 1997 to 1999 he was the Information Systems Officer and Command Security Manager for the National/Naval Ice Center in Suitland, Maryland.
In 1999, Mr. Rohwer left Active Duty and worked as a Secure Systems Engineer in support of NRL on the Extending the Littoral Battlespace, Advanced Capabilities Technology Demonstrator. In 2002, he accepted a civilian position at NRL in the Network Security Section.
