Senior-level executive with over 40 years of extensive military and private business leadership, strategic and operational logistics and executive management experience leading complex and diverse organizations worldwide. Kurt Stein is a proven senior leader and effective communicator who successfully planned, built and executed effective strategies in support of large scale logistical operations. Established and maintains a robust professional network of business, operational and logistics professionals in and out of Government.
As a retired Major General, Kurt’s culminating assignment on active duty was as Commanding General, 1st Theater Sustainment Command where he led over 40,000 servicemen, DA civilians and contractors providing logistics operations throughout 7 countries to include Kuwait, (MF)) Sinai, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, Qatar, Iraq and Afghanistan. Executed distribution operations; land, sea and air. In this role, Kurt was also dual hatted as the ARCENT 3rd Army Deputy Commanding General for Support.
Previously, Kurt served as CG, Tank, Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM), Warren, MI leading a multi-disciplined enterprise responsible for the development, acquisition, fielding and sustainment of nearly 3500 fielded Soldier and Ground System end items. Responsible for $1.5B budget and $20B in contracts. Executed role as Head of Contracting, (HCA).
As a General, Kurt also performed duties as the Multi Forces-Iraq CJ 1/4/8 developing and implementing logistical policies and procedures in support of the war effort. Additionally, Kurt served as the C/J 4 United States Forces Korea, responsible for logistical support to U.S and Combined Forces in Korea.
In the private sector, Kurt developed, maintained and leveraged external relationships to strategically position a small business as a leading voice in the defense industry resulting in company growth from $13M to $48M and the successful transition from a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business to a large business over a 3 year period.
Kurt now works with companies of all sizes to help their businesses grow and become more profitable, more efficient and achieve desired levels of success.
