U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command [DEVCOM] C5ISR
Michael Piesen is the Deputy Acquisition Manager for 5G Technology for the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD. In that role he is responsible for all 5G related efforts through C5ISR Center as well as acting as the Principal Investigator for Army 5G Tactical Mobility. Most recently, Mr Piesen was the Project Lead for Secure Wireless under Program Manager Tactical Network Product Manager Network Modernization (PdM NetMod). In his time at C5ISR Center Mr Piesen has worked on the Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW), Wireless Network After Next (WNaN) and Digital Data Link (DDL) systems but more recently has focused on hardening commercial technologies for tactical use, including 802.11 WiFi, 4G LTE and 3G HSPA. He has twice deployed to Afghanistan to train systems he helped develop for the Rapid Equipping Force (REF).
Mr Piesen has been awarded the Achievement Medal for Civilian Service and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University.
