Michelle Lee is the Lynchburg Technology Center plant manager for BWXT Advanced Technologies LLC. Ms. Lee is responsible for the facility and the center’s laboratory operations, which include facilities for machining and analyzing radioactive materials such as fuel and irradiated components, failure analysis, nondestructive testing and inspection, and BWXT’s radioisotope and analytical chemistry lab. The center provides these services for a variety of internal and commercial customers, playing a key role in national defense, and in recent advancements in reactor and fuel design, and fabrication of novel medical isotope generation technology. Ms. Lee has more than 20 years of experience in the nuclear industry. She joined BWXT in 2001 briefly as an operator before becoming a chemist and achieved progressively more responsibility in downblending operations supervision, integrated safety analysis, regulatory relations, employee relations and lab management. Ms. Lee earned her Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from East Tennessee State University.
