Michael L. Chagnon is a Senior Vice President and the Airborne Solutions Operations Manager at Leidos. With $500M in annual revenues and 1000 employees, the operation designs, develops, integrates, operates, and provides full life cycle sustainment of aerial platforms, complex mission equipment payloads, and ground stations in support of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR); geospatial data collection; and counter-narcotics missions. He manages all aspects of the business, with financial, contractual, strategy development, business development, mergers and acquisition, and human capital responsibilities. In this capacity his primary customers include the US Army, US Air Force, US Special Operations Command, and US Southern Command.
Mr. Chagnon has worked for Leidos, and its predecessor SAIC, for 34 years. He has 38 years of experience in hardware and software systems engineering and integration specializing in the design and development of operational C4ISR enterprise systems for coalition, joint, strategic, and tactical warfare; decision support; mission planning; and CBRN/E effects assessment. His customers have included all branches of the US Armed Forces, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Mr. Chagnon joined SAIC in 1988 as a software engineer and has served in a variety of senior management positions. He served as Deputy President of the Defense Group at Leidos which designs, develops, and delivers mission critical C4ISR, Enterprise IT, transformational logistics, training, and enterprise security solutions to US military and strategic international customers. He served as President of the Advanced Solutions Group where he led over 2700 scientists and engineers in the development of forward looking innovative solutions, oversaw the establishment of the Leidos Agile Software Factory, and matured the company’s aviation and unmanned maritime systems businesses. Prior to that he served in operations and division management positions for 17 years. He has 30 years of program management and oversight experience and 23 years of firm fixed price and earned value management experience. His line organizations have held CMMI certifications and multiple ISO and AS9100 registrations for 25 years.
Mr. Chagnon holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, San Diego.
