Commercial GEOINT Activity (CGA)

Dr. Michael Foster is the NGA Director for the Commercial GEOINT Activity (CGA), a joint initiative between the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), established to position both agencies to take full advantage of legacy and emerging commercial GEOINT capabilities. Prior to his current position, Dr. Foster served in NGA’s Analysis Directorate, leading the Activity Based Intelligence and advanced analytics portfolio initiative, where he guided the development of tradecraft, training, and technology furthering analytic modernization. Other NGA assignments included various leadership roles within the Analysis Directorate’s Office of Sciences and Methodologies, as well as the Office of Corporate Communications as a legislative liaison. Prior to joining NGA in 2010, Dr. Foster served in the U.S. Air Force as an acquisition officer where his assignments involved imagery system design, development, and advocacy.
