Michael Toecker is an engineer with broad expertise in the cyber security of control system systems, particularly those used in the energy sector. Mr. Toecker has spent 15 years working in electric power and control system security, first at a Big 5 power engineering firm, then at the power generation arm of a major utility. Mr. Toecker had most recently worked for the control system security firm Digital Bond. Toecker left Digital Bond to build an energy sector focused consultancy in 2014 to explore important electric power resilience and security issues for public and private clients.
For the Department of Energy, Mr. Toecker serves as a subject matter expert for cyber/energy systems, working with various industry and government stakeholders on risks, mitigations, vulnerabilities, and threats to the energy sector. He also serves as the program manager for the public sector component of the Cybersecurity Risk Information Sharing Program (CRISP) alongside the EISAC’s private sector component.
