Patty Larsen was named the Co-Director of the National Insider Threat Task Force in January 2014. She leads US Government-wide implementation of Executive Order 13587 to improve the security task force that she co-directs helps approximately 80 Executive Branch departments and agencies build insider threat programs, and shares lessons learned with industry partners, allied nations, and others.


Ms. Larsen is a plankholder within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and has been assigned to the National Counterintelligence and Security Center and its predecessor since August 2005. She has served in executive level roles in the National Intelligence Manager for Counterintelligence (CI) Directorate integrating CI into national intelligence issues, and in the Acquisition Risk Directorate improving supply chain risk management across the U.S. Government. She was also the Chief of the Program Evaluation Group, the performance manager, and deputy collection manager.

From 2011-2012, Ms. Larsen was on a joint duty assignment at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) CI office, improving CI support to NGA and better integrating NGA CI with the rest of the community.

Prior to ODNI, Ms. Larsen also served in the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Joint Counterintelligence Division as the European Command desk officer and DOD CI Collection Manager.

Ms. Larsen served as an Army Military Intelligence (MI) officer for eleven years. While in uniform, Ms. Larsen was stationed in Germany; the Pentagon; Belgium; and Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and served in numerous leadership and staff positions.

Ms. Larsen is an alumnus of the Federal Executive Institute as well as the U.S. Army’s basic and advanced Military Intelligence officer courses at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. She received a Masters of Business Administration and a Master of Arts in International Business in 2000 from the George Washington University. She is a 1993 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. Ms. Larsen and her husband Ted reside in Alexandria, Virginia, with their two daughters, Nicole and Lauren, and golden retrievers Rascal and Senna.
