Ms. Tanya Pemberton became the Chief Information Officer and Director of Information Technology (IT) Services for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) in July 2016. In this role, she oversees all aspects of the agency’s IT operations, to include policy, governance and implementation of NGA’s IT investments and activities.
Ms. Pemberton has over 30 years of experience in both industry and the Intelligence Community. Her government experience includes several positions at the NRO as director of technology initiatives, imaging systems and architecture and reconnaissance systems; director of the Open Source Center; and many other leadership positions involving technology initiatives where she was instrumental in formulating relationships between industry and nonprofits to better select, manage and transition promising technologies into government.
Prior to joining the government, Ms. Pemberton worked as an engineer at Hughes Space and Communications where she gained extensive experience in the areas of mission analysis, spacecraft design, and program management on both government and commercial projects.
Ms. Pemberton earned her master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and her undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She and her family reside in Northern Virginia.
