Mr. Terrance Westerfield serves as US Army Strategy lead at Amazon Web Services (AWS) where he focuses on resolving Army challenges and supporting modernization initiatives through the adoption of cloud technologies.
Prior to joining AWS, Terrance spent 15 years as a US Army civilian. Terrance last served as Senior Scientific Technical Manager (SSTM) and Technical Director of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Engineer Research and Development Center, Geospatial Research Laboratory. As the Army’s senior research scientist for geospatial technologies, he oversaw the basic and applied research programs focusing on increasing the operational effectiveness and efficacy of the warfighters by geospatially-enabling Command and Control (C2) systems .
While leading programs within USACE, Mr Westerfield was dual-hatted and served as the Technical Advisor to the Joint Chiefs of Staff J5 (War Plans Division) provding guidance on enterprise information technology (IT) systems development. In this capacity, Terrance focused on the modernization of the Joint Operations Planning Process and bringing map-based mission planning capabilities to enable Operations-Logistics-Intelligence convergence across the DOD.
Mr. Westerfield holds a Master of Science in Human Factors & Systems; a Master of Science in Aeronautics; and Bachelors of Science in Human Factors Psychology from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
