75th Ranger Regiment
Major Zachary R. Taylor was commissioned into the United States Army through the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University’s Corps of Cadets ROTC program in 2010. His academic credentials include a Master’s in Military Art and Science (MMAS) and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Leadership Studies.
MAJ Taylor is currently serving as the Chief Information Officer for 75 th Ranger Regiment (Airborne). Prior to the current assignment, MAJ Taylor served as the senior communications officer for 5 th Special Forces Group (Airborne) from 2021-2023. His previous assignments also include Regimental and Battalion S6 for 75 th Ranger Regiment from 2017 – 2021, Company Commander for Alpha Company, 62d Expeditionary Signal Battalion, Fort Hood, TX, Aide-de-Camp for the 335 th Signal Command (Theater) (Provisional) Commanding General, Battalion S4 OIC for 1 st Battalion, 6 th Infantry Regiment, Executive Officer and Armor Platoon Leader for Destroyer Company, 1/6 Infantry Regiment, Ft. Bliss, Texas.
MAJ Taylor’s military training includes the Command and General Staff College, Signal Captain’s Career Course, Armor Basic Officer Leader’s Course, Ranger Assessment and Selection Program, Ranger School, Information Operations Course, and Basic Airborne School
MAJ Taylor’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (five Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal - Combat, Army Commendation Medal( one Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (six Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, NATO medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Ranger Tab. Parachutist Badge, and the German Proficiency Badge. He is a recipient of the Bronze Order of Mercury.
