Spirent Federal Systems Names David Thompson as Its New Adviser

Spirent Federal Systems has appointed retired Gen. David Thompson to an advisory role. Thompson, who has four decades of experience in the U.S. Air Force and Space Force, will provide strategic counsel to Spirent Federal related to the delivery of position, navigation and timing solutions, Spirent Federal said.

His expertise in operations, research and development and acquisition aligns with the company’s mission of developing advanced test equipment for navigation warfare technologies, such as next-generation military GPS and anti-interference systems.

Spirent Federal Systems CEO Rob VanBrunt emphasized the growing need for reliable PNT solutions in light of increasing threats to GPS in war zones. He said Thompson’s experience will be crucial in developing the company’s ability to provide simulators for faster deployment of advanced PNT technologies to soldiers.

Thompson, a past Potomac Officers Club event speaker, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the importance of staying ahead of ever-changing threats. He voiced his confidence in Spirent Federal’s ability to address emerging threats, citing its commitment to developing solutions that rapidly bolster PNT resilience and safeguard critical PNT capabilities.

Thompson retired in February 2024 after serving as the first vice chief of space operations of the USSF.
