SSA Boosts Digital Transformation With AI, Data Tracking Tools
The Social Security Administration is accelerating its ongoing digital transformation efforts using artificial intelligence and a tool for data tracking, according to top agency officials.
In February, the SSA launched the SecurityStat tool designed to measure performance metrics, enabling top executives and subject matter experts to analyze data, identify problems and solutions, and implement necessary changes to improve customer service.
The agency also used 14 AI applications, including the Intelligent Medical Language Analysis Generation tool for streamlining disability determinations and other software built with predictive AI models to improve the assessment of disability applications and the detection of fraudulent claims, FedScoop reported.
Brian Peltier, the agency’s chief artificial intelligence officer and deputy chief information officer, said the tools enabled the SSA to increase its process rates by 157 percent.
The SSA is working to continuously improve its AI and data tracking tools.
SSA Commissioner Martin O’Malley has been meeting with lawmakers to discuss the benefits of granting an 8 percent SSA budget increase included in President Joe Biden’s fiscal year 2025 budget request.
