Task Force Lima to Support DOD GenAI Solutions Adoption
A task force established by the Department of Defense has started providing recommendations to help create guidelines and identify infrastructure needs as the agency adopts generative artificial intelligence-enabled solutions.
Speaking at a Center for Strategic and International Studies event on Monday, Radha Plumb, chief digital and AI officer at the DOD, said the recommendations have so far focused on the needed guidelines and guardrails as the department starts evaluating its potential use cases.
Plumb, a past Potomac Officers Club event speaker, also discussed how her team depends on the task force to gain a better understanding of the needed infrastructure that will power the use of and maintain GenAI solutions, Nextgov/FCW reported.
The Pentagon launched Task Force Lima in August to take advantage of the benefits offered by GenAI. Since then, it has completed several milestones. In September, the task force started assessing the benefits and downsides associated with using the emerging technology for defense applications.
In February, it announced that it would soon release details on a digital testbed that would allow stakeholders to carry out trials and experiments on a wide range of AI solutions.
