Tenable.io Platform Receives FedRAMP “In Process’ Designation

The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program has granted an “In Process” designation to Tenable’s cloud-based vulnerability management platform, known as Tenable.io.

The proprietary platform offers users a risk-based view of the entire attack surface, including information technology components, the cloud and web applications, by continuously tracking and assessing known and unknown assets and their vulnerabilities in customer environments. Backed by the proprietary vulnerability scanner technology, Nessus, Tenable.io delivers comprehensive vulnerability coverage, enabling users to understand and prioritize immediate cyber risks, Tenable said.

With the “In Process” designation in tow, Tenable moves one step closer to achieving a FedRAMP authorization, which would allow federal government agencies to deploy the Tenable.io, as well as the Tenable.io Web Application Scanning, for their missions.

Using the Tenable.io Web Application Scanning, users can minimize false positives and false negatives, giving security teams a better understanding of the true security risks in their web applications. The product is built with an external scanning function that ensures production web applications, including those based on HTML and AJAx frameworks, are not disrupted or delayed.

Speaking about the FedRAMP “In Process” designation, Tenable’s vice president of public sector sales, Bill Kurtz, acknowledged the need for secure cloud computing, especially in sensitive and critical environments like the federal government.

Kurtz, a member of the Potomac Officers Club, further expressed excitement about building on Tenable’s decades-long delivery of on-premises vulnerability management solutions to the federal government with the nearing deployment of Tenable.io.
