Commodity Futures Trading Commission Appoints Theodore Kaouk as Chief Data Officer
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has appointed Theodore Kaouk as chief data officer and Data Division director.
According to the CFTC, Kaouk will lead its data integration efforts and support the commission’s office and divisions in providing informed policy decisions. He will work with the agency’s newly named first chief data scientist, John Coughlan.
Before his CFTC appointment, Kaouk served for two years as the U.S. Office of the Personnel Management’s CDO, Homeland Security Today reported.
In a LinkedIn post, Kaouk expressed his excitement about working with Coughlan, the Data Division and the whole CFTC organization in helping advance the regulatory agency’s data and artificial intelligence capabilities.
Before OPM, Kaouk was the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s CDO, helping create over 500 dashboards across the department’s mission areas to provide executives and staff with better information access.
Coughlan, on the other hand, had been performing data science and analytical roles with the CFTC for eight years before his promotion as its first chief data scientist.
