TMF Receives Significant Number of AI-Enabled Project Proposals
A number of artificial intelligence-focused projects are seeking funding support from the Technology Modernization Fund, according to Harrison Smith, a member of the fund’s board of directors.
In an interview with Federal News Network, Smith discussed how a streamlined process implemented at the TMF has provided significant support for reviewing the proposals. He said that the streamlined review process is part of the organization’s commitment to support any initiative that aims to take advantage of the power of AI while protecting the public from its risks.
The proposals came after the TMF sought proposals from federal agencies for AI-related ideas to improve their operations, the Federal News Network reported.
Smith said that the organization sought proposals centered on AI-powered missions-enabling solutions to improve its understanding of which solution might work similarly to that adopted by the Department of State that supported the operations of more than 270 diplomatic posts around the world.
In recent months, the federal government has been identifying several AI use cases to benefit the public. In May, the Department of Veterans Affairs disclosed how it is using the emerging technology to identify veterans at risk of suicide or homelessness.
