TrapX Security Detects IoT Device-Targeting Malware Campaign

Cyber deception technology specialist TrapX Security has discovered a new malware campaign in various global manufacturing sites aimed at attacking internet of things devices using Windows 7. In its report, TrapX Research Labs noted that the campaign uses a self-spreading downloader that spreads malicious scripts under the Lemon_Duck PowerShell malware variant family. The report further detailed that potential malfunction by IoT devices could harm workers on the manufacturing floor, delay the supply chain, and ultimately damage the brand’s reputation, TrapX Security said.
