UiPath to Use Robotic Process Automation on Amentum Programs

Amentum has partnered with UiPath, a robotic process automation software company, to apply automation capabilities on programs catering to government customers.

UiPath’s capabilities will support programs related to mission support and sustainment, operations and maintenance, threat mitigation and assurance, supply chain and logistics and others, Amentum said Monday.

Jill Bruning, president of Amentum’s intelligence, systems engineering, security, services and solutions unit, said the partnership will help customers through their digital transformation journeys.

Amentum said the partnership followed the recent launch of its center of excellence for advanced process automation. The center is a key milestone in the company’s development of automation, said Bruning, a Potomac Officers Club member and a 2016 Wash100 winner.

The company said automation complements its advanced analytics capabilities, allowing staff to focus on higher-value work while reducing backlogs and mistakes.

Headquartered in New York City, UiPath is a software company that develops software for monitoring user activity and automating repetitive front and back office tasks.

Federal government agencies, including the departments of Defense and Homeland Security, have been increasingly adopting RPA capabilities.

DHS recently asked industry for an RPA solution to automate its financial processing system, facilitating a transition from paper to electronic invoicing.

DOD’s logistics arm has also turned to RPA to increase productivity and improve accuracy in supply chain management.

According to a December 2020 report by the RPA Community of Practice, the Defense Logistics Agency is already using RPA systems to improve productivity in employee onboarding, demand planning, coding materials and enterprise business.

C4ISRNET previously reported that DLA’s RPA program plans to further its RPA adoption by piloting intelligence automation and artificial intelligence tools.
