Xcelerate Solutions Names Vivek Malhotra as President Following VMD Merger

McLean, Virginia-based defense and national security contractor Xcelerate Solutions has appointed as president Vivek Malhotra, cofounder of defense service provider VMD, which completed a merger with Xcelerate in February.

Xcelerate cited Malhotra’s over 20 years of experience, which he provided to VMD, where he served as president before the merger. Xcelerate CEO Mark Drever, a 4×24 member, welcomed Malholtra’s appointment, pointing out his capabilities to balance innovation growth with the bottom line while increasing customer value.

Before co-founding VMD in 2022, Malhotra performed technical functions at ECS, L3 Technologies and Oracle, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Malhotra described as “amazing” Xcelerate’s potential to contribute to customer security, given its professional team’s versatile capabilities to improve network resilience and protect critical infrastructures.

Among the task orders that Xcelerate is working on is the modernization and redesign of the  Defense Logistics Agency’s Joint Contingency and Expeditionary Services tools under a three-year contract awarded in September 2022. One of VMD’s job contributions to its merger with Xcelerate is a five-year, $29 million contract for governance and oversight services to the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration awarded in July 2023.

In January 2023, Xcelerate secured an investment from McNally Capital to enable the former’s service offering expansion.
