AFRL Seeks Proposals for AI-Powered Next-Gen Target Tracking Solutions

The Air Force Research Laboratory is seeking research proposals that maximize the benefits offered by artificial intelligence in advancing technologies and techniques for next-generation target-tracking solutions.

Under the advanced research announcement on Thursday, the AFRL seeks new algorithms, techniques and methods for 3D pixel and point cloud processing; ingestion and processing of GPS, inertial navigation system and radio frequency identification trackers; and processing of cellphone GPS, INS and personal fitness devices.

Interested parties can submit their proposals until July 12, 2029, according to a notice posted on SAM .gov.

The government plans to issue contracts with a maximum combined value of about $99 million, with individual awards expected to be in the range of $1 million to $10 million.

The service branch has been experimenting with potential AI use cases in recent months. It has integrated AI into the X-62A Vista aircraft, equipping it with autonomous capabilities and making it future-proof.
