ORNL, Vanderbilt University Collaborate to Ensure Reliable AI Models
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Vanderbilt University are collaborating to ensure robust and reliable artificial intelligence models.
Under the new partnership, the two organizations will work to ensure AI systems are capable of handling challenging national security issues, test and assess the resiliency of AI tools and improve decision-makers’ confidence in using AI-enabled technologies to maintain the United States’ competitive advantage. The organizations will initially work to support the U.S. Air Force with fully autonomous vehicles, such as the X-62A VISTA unmanned aerial vehicle, ORNL .gov reported.
Vanderbilt University has been supporting the government to advance the adoption of new technologies. In November, it collaborated with the U.S. Army to develop an AI-enabled solution to enhance the service’s capabilities to identify and dodge enemy-initiated signal jamming.
ORNL has also been working to take full advantage of the benefits offered by AI. In April, it launched the Center for AI Security Research to promote the need to research overlooked areas of cybersecurity challenges associated with AI to improve capabilities to protect national security.
