State Department’s Nathaniel Fick Attends Cyber Capacity Building Event

Nathaniel Fick, the Department of State’s ambassador at large for cyberspace and digital policy, called for digital development efforts to consider international security during the first Global Conference on Cyber Capacity Building, which took place in Ghana from Nov. 29 to 30.

Organized by the government of Ghana, the World Bank, the World Economic Forum and other bodies, G3CB’s objective is to promote a free and safe digital transition, the State Department said Thursday.

The event aimed to facilitate international cooperation on capacity building, cyber resilience and cybersecurity knowledge and skill development. GC3B produced a non-binding action framework aimed at driving global and national cyber resilience initiatives.

Delivering remarks at the GC3B, Fick also spoke about his organization’s cyber capacity-building progress and the United States’ artificial intelligence policy strategy as laid out by a recent executive order.

Fick has advocated for stronger international cooperation on cybersecurity in recent months. In September, he shared that the State Department is developing a strategy to advance such efforts.
